Gemma, the doberman cross, was with us a long time. She was abused - we were told she was being beaten even as she was being taken into the pound. Then we kennelled her at Nathalia kennels. It took us a long time to find a carer as she was selective what dogs she liked and finally we found a great foster home for her without any dogs. She was with her carers a long time and like many of these so called 'problem dogs' was so loyal and loving to the people she related to. We knew her carers loved her and would have adopted her themselves if they weren't planning on returning to Ireland. Finally though we thought we had found the perfect home for her. But sadly she got sick suddenly and it seemed almost overnight died of liver cancer. We're sorry Gemma we did our best for you. Her carers wrote below:
"Gemma was our first foster dog and we absolutely fell in love. She was whip-smart and loved to be petted and played with. Her favourite thing to do (apart from eat) was be wherever her humans were. She loved chasing a ball or playing tug-of-war or having a cuddle at the end of the day. She took a little while to warm up but once you had her trust she was fiercely loyal and loving. Our favourite part of the day was coming home to her wagging tail or watching her get excited whenever we said "WALK". She is missed every single day when we open the door and she isn't there, tail wagging and body bouncing with excitement. Rest in peace Gem."
